Postdoc Position at the Institute for Zoology and Biocentre, Uni of Cologne

The Institute of Biology and Centre at the University of Cologne is Germany is currently accepting applications for a postdoc position in 2019.
This position is part of the EU funded project “Mech­Evo-Insect” which aims at a mechanistic and quantitative understanding of the transition between different mouth-part classes in insects using state-of-the-art workflows for shape characterisation and biomechanical analysis.
Project details:
Being a post-doc position, the applicant principal­ly can develop his own research initiative within this project framework. Therefore, a particular emphasis will be placed on the own ideas of the applicant and how these can be studied (ideally using a combination of both the post-docs’ expertise and the expertise of the workgroup).
The successful applicant is able to work independent­ly, but actively participates in all activities of the work-group including a considerable amount of two-way transfer of knowledge between the applicant and the host group.

  • The position is available from 01.11.2019 on a full-time basis. It is limited to 31.10.2022. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifica­tions, the salary is based on remuneration group 13 TV- L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
Eligibility
  • They are seeking a highly motivated applicant, ideally with a background in evolutionary morphology, biomechanics and/or imaging and with a doctoral degree in Biological Sciences, Engineering Sciences or Computer Sciences
